Legal Information About Our Bakery

Bun Appétit operates as a Cottage Food Business under the Texas Cottage Food Law (Texas Health and Safety Code § 437.001 et seq.). All products are prepared in a home kitchen that is not inspected or regulated by the Texas Department of State Health Services or local health authorities.

By purchasing from Bun Appétit, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • Cottage Food Status
    All items sold by Bun Appétit are produced in a private residence, not a commercial kitchen. Cottage food operations in Texas are exempt from certain commercial food regulations and health inspections.

  • Allergen Notice
    While we have products that do not contain certain allergens, our kitchen may contain and process common allergens; including, but not limited to, wheat, gluten, eggs, dairy, nuts, peanuts, soy, and tree nuts. We cannot guarantee that any product is 100% allergen-free. If you have an allergy, please let us know.

  • Preservative-Free Products
    Bun Appétit products are made without artificial preservatives. For your safety and best enjoyment, items should be stored and consumed according to the care instructions provided.

  • Sales & Delivery Restrictions
    In compliance with Texas Cottage Food Law, Bun Appétit sells products directly to consumers only. Resale or wholesale of our products is prohibited.

    • Shipping across state lines is not permitted.

    • Local pickup, delivery, or direct-to-consumer arrangements will be specified at the time of purchase.

  • Food Handling Responsibility
    Once products have been picked up or delivered, Bun Appétit is not responsible for improper storage, handling, or consumption.

  • No Medical or Dietary Claims
    Bun Appétit does not provide medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. Any product descriptions are for general informational purposes only.

  • Labeling Compliance
    All products will be clearly labeled as required by Texas law, including ingredients, allergen declarations, and the statement:
    “This food is made in a home kitchen and is not inspected by the Department of State Health Services or a local health department.”
